On Wednesday, a delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) visited Pakistan to assess the venues and infrastructure for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They met with Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
(ICC) granted Pakistan the hosting rights agreement
Pakistan’s status as the host country for the Champions Trophy was still being determined due to India’s insistence on hosting most matches for September’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will host the Men’s Cricket World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka in 1996, making it the country’s first major global cricket competition.
As per a press statement released by the board today, the meeting deliberated on the “preparation and effective execution” of the forthcoming event in the upcoming year.
The Chairman of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his utmost satisfaction and appreciation for this development, which is well-received by both the board and the fans nationwide.
“The PCB will provide exceptional facilities commensurate with the prestige of this momentous tournament,” he stated in the press release.
“I am pleased to inform you that the PCB will enhance the three primary venues in the country well before the commencement of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025,” he stated, emphasizing that the board will thoroughly investigate all aspects to ensure the tournament’s triumph and lasting impact.
The delegation, headed by Chris Tetley, the Head of Events at ICC, consisted of Sarah Edgar, the Senior Manager of event operations at ICC, and Aun Zaidi, the event operations manager.
COO PCB Salman Naseer, Director International Cricket PCB Usman Wahla, and other PCB officials were also present during the meeting.
